Our Beliefs

Our Beliefs

The three big questions that people ask are: “Where did I come from?”; “Why am I here?”; and “Where am I going?” We must have truthful answers if we are to order our lives properly. In other words, our understanding of truth determines how we will live. At HCBC we are very serious about knowing and living Gods truth.

We are an Evangelical Church

The word “Evangelical” means that we believe in the rich theology of original unrevised New Testament Christianity: the normative character of the Judeo-Christian scriptures, which we believe are God’s verbalized communication to us; and the fallenness and brokenness of human nature. We further believe that Jesus Christ is more than a great teacher or a moral example, but is in fact the incarnation, the enfleshment, of the great God. We believe in his supernatural birth, his morally impeccable life, his vicarious redemptive death, his empirical bodily resurrection, and his triumphant Second Advent. We believe that acceptance with God is by grace alone, through faith alone. Our eschatology is pre-millennial and moderately dispensational.

We are Community-minded

Christians are instructed, as opportunity permits, to “do good to all men” (Gal. 6:10).

The Provider's Pantry

In partnership with the San Antonio Food Bank, the pantry provides groceries, pet food, and other household items free of charge to all those in need regardless of belief or lack thereof. The pantry routinely serves 30 - 40 families per month every second Saturday monthly from 11 am to 1 pm on church grounds at 20885 FM 306 at Tamarack Drive.

The Angels' Attic Thrift Store

Our 8300 square foot location at 1711 FM 2673 has everything something for everyone! Furniture, clothing, jewelry, books, children's toys, and much more. All merchandise is sold at one-third retail price and all proceeds benefit church programs such as the Provider's Pantry. Donations of new or gently used items gladly accepted!

We are patriotic and proud to be Americans!

We recognize that America is not perfect, but the good that we have done far outweighs the bad. We believe in the constitution, in limited government, and in the great economic engine of free market capitalism. We oppose neo-Marxism and globalism, and we believe that America’s only hope is a massive ideological, moral, and spiritual awakening, and that the church, revived and purified, will be the instrument through which it comes.

We are involved in the task of Apologetics

Apologetics is the factual defense of the Christian truth-claim. In evaluating the truthfulness of the Christian religion, God does not expect people to exercise blind faith, but has placed evidences of himself on everything in the universe! We refer to these evidences as the “fingerprints of God”.

Thus, at HCBC we study and identify the philosophical and scientific evidences for the existence of God, his presence in human history, the divinity of Christ, his redemptive death, and his empirical bodily resurrection.

In addition, we study the wonders of bible prophecy and its clinically detailed fulfilment. This study involves the recognition of Gods current preparation for the second Advent of Christ, with signs in the world, the church, and the nation of Israel.

We are friends of Israel

We believe that God has made an eternal, unbreakable, suzerainty covenant with the ancient people of Israel (Jer. 31:35-37). We believe that the political rebirth of the state of Israel on May 14th, 1948, was a distinct and clear fulfilment of ancient Hebrew prophecy (Isa. 11:10-12; Amos 9:14-15). We further believe that Israel will have a prominent role in the drama of the end of days and will someday embrace Jesus Christ as their messiah and lord.

We are happy to be friends with Israel and to share the love of Christ with Hebrew people, as opportunity permits.
